On Sky Go
Anyone can watch Sky Open on the free Sky Go app, whether you’re a Sky customer or not! It’s easy! Just follow these simple steps and you can watch the best of Sky Open on the go from your phone, tablet, or desktop.
Go to www.skygo.co.nz and click ‘Register’ – you’ll find it at the top right hand corner of your screen on a desktop, and in the top right hand drop down menu on your phone or tablet.
Fill out your details – enter your email address, choose a password, and enter your first and last name.
Verify your account – to make sure it’s really you who is signing up, you’ll receive an email from Sky New Zealand asking you to verify your email. Click the link within the email to confirm your new Sky Go registration.
You’re now all set to sign into your Sky Go account! Go to www.skygo.co.nz and click ‘Sign In’ – again, you’ll find it at the top right hand corner of your screen on a desktop, and in the top right hand drop down menu on your phone or tablet.
Use your email address and password in the pop up box and you’re in!
Once you’re logged into Sky Go you can watch all your favourite Sky Open programmes on demand or enjoy Sky Open as a live broadcast channel.
To watch what is broadcasting on Sky Open right now, click on ‘Watch TV’ and choose Sky Open (under Entertainment & Lifestyle). You can check the Sky Go ‘TV Guide’ to see what’s coming up.
To watch programmes on demand at any time, head to the menu at the top of your screen (or the drop down menu on mobile or tablet) click Browse > Channels > Sky Open.
You can also find Sky Open content by scrolling to the bottom of the home screen to the ‘Channels: Explore More’ rail.
You can download the Sky Go App from the App Store, log in using your email address and password, and enjoy all the same content and product features as you do on the website. You can also download selected Sky Open shows straight to your device, making it easy to watch from anywhere, i.e., on the plane or the bus, or away from WiFi.
One last thing. When you’re browsing around Sky Go as a Sky Open customer, you might see an ‘Upgrade To Watch’ message pop up when you click on a show or channel that is only available to Sky subscribers. If you are already a Sky subscriber, you can click on that button to link your account and if you’re not, you have the option to subscribe – either way you will be directed to the sky.co.nz website to complete these tasks.
On Freeview
Most modern TVs have Freeview built in. Once you’ve connected your antenna cable to the TV and auto-tuned the TV channels, you’re all set to watch Sky Open on Freeview channel 15.
If you don’t have a UHF aerial or satellite dish, you can still watch Freeview channels using a Dish TV SmartVU box. As the name suggests, Freeview does not charge viewers to access its programming, which means you can watch Sky Open for free.
If you’re a Freeview viewer and are experiencing audio issues you may need to retune your Freeview Box. Find out how here.
Teacher Notes
* If you are watching the Olympics, I suggest that you provide a creative activity to help keep students off their phones.
Might be fun to have a classroom Olympics competition for the completion of tasks or tracking things like attendance over the two and a half weeks.
