Lesson 5
Energy Loss
Learning Intention: Explore what happens to energy that is "loss."
Success Criteria
7. Discuss how energy to be "loss" if the law of conservation of energy states that energy cannot be created destroyed. (E)
Learning Tasks
Investigate the effects of friction by attaching weights to a Newton meter and then drag it against different surfaces to see what happens to the force.
Check in with Ms Garlick so she can give you notes on forces and motion.
Use the PhET Friction Simulator and answer the questions in the Google Doc.
Write down a list of examples of when you'd want to reduced friction and increase friction and explain why you want that time of friction in that example.
Watch the video explaining how to Calculate Energy Efficiency.
Complete the Energy Efficiency Worksheet.
Write a summarize to explain what is energy "loss." Your answer should link back to the law of conversation of energy.
Homework
Finish any remaining classwork.
