Lesson 3
CNMR (Carbon Environments)
Learning Intention: Determine the unique number of carbon environments in a molecule.
Success Criteria
8. I can identify the number of carbon environments on C NMR data.
9. I can integrate the information from IR, mass spec and C NMR to identify a molecule.
Learning Tasks
Do Now (Day 1) - Create at least 5 isomers for the C7H16O. (Google says that there's 78 isomers.)
Copy down the notes on carbon environments.
Work on the Combination Questions Pack. If aiming for A, just identify the functional group, write down the carbon environment number, and identify the base speak and molecular ion. If aiming for M/E, solve for the unknown molecule (M requirement). I will each you the E requirement next week.
Do Now (Day 2) - Complete the Week 7 Check In. Random Question: If you were on death row, what would you want your final meal to be?
Complete Questions 3 from the Combination Questions Pack.
Double check your work with Ms Garlick's model answer.
