Lesson 5
Interviewing
Learning Intention: Learn how to sell yourself to employers.
Success Criteria
5. I can write a paragraph that could be used for my CV or cover letter.
6. I can answer potential interview questions.
Do Now
Practice writing a cover letter for the following babysitting advertisement.
“We are a busy family with four children aged 11, 9, 7 and 3. We are looking for a fun, energetic, caring, responsible and helpful person to help Mum out from time to time.
This would include looking after children, helping with homework, playing with the children, helping with general light household duties (i.e washing lunchboxes, clearing the bench, helping the children keep their rooms tidy). With four children an extra set of hands from time to time is very helpful.
We also have a wonderful pet dog (small) - so this role also suits someone who loves animals and is confident with dogs.
We look forward to hearing from you.”

Buddy up with a friend to practice the "Job Interview Questions." (page 14)
After you've had some time to practice, go to a different classmate to do a practice interview (page 15). Before you start the interview, create an imaginary situation for the job you are applying, ideally something that could be your first student job (working on McDonald's, Pak n' Save, Cityfitness, etc.).
